Chemistry · Firework colours
Why do fireworks burn in different colours?
What you’ll see
Every colour is a different metal. The heat kicks an electron up to a higher shell, and when it falls back down it lets out light of one exact colour. Strontium's electrons fall a step that glows red, sodium's yellow, barium's green, copper's blue. The night sky becomes a chemistry chart.
