Chemistry · Soap and grease
How does soap get grease off a plate?
What you’ll see
Water alone just slides over grease, because oil and water don't mix. A soap molecule has two ends: a head that loves water and a long tail that loves oil. The tails dig into the grease, the heads face outward, and together they wrap it into tiny balls that the water carries away.
