Maths · The Riemann hypothesis
What is the Riemann hypothesis?
What you’ll see
The primes look random: two, three, five, seven, eleven. In 1859, Bernhard Riemann tied them to a landscape, the zeta function. Each place it sinks to zero leaves a pit, and each pit adds a ripple to how the primes are spread. Trillions of pits found so far all lie on one straight line. Always? Nobody knows.
